The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce has awarded its 2008 Business Person of the Year  to Joe Funkhouser, President and Owner of Coldwell Banker Funkhouser Realtors.  The award was given on January 7, 2009 at the chamber's 92nd Annual Awards Banquet.  The Business Person of the Year is awarded to someone who has made outstanding contributions to the local community through their business and charitable activities.

2008 was another banner year for Joe Funkhouser and Coldwell Banker Funkhouser Realtors.  As the real estate market presented new challenges and greater competition, the company further expanded to Woodstock, increased services to clients, and once again became the top real estate company by sales volume and transactions in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Association of Realtors.

"I am honored to receive this award from our local chamber," said Joe Funkhouser.  "In a year where the real estate industry took a beating by the media, I think this award really speaks to our company's efforts and level of service to our community."

Joe attributes the success of his company to the real estate professionals associated with his company.  "We have many of the best REALTORS in our market.  They are extremely knowledgeable about the business and are committed to each of our clients."
